What is Halloween?

Halloween is an annual holiday that is celebrated each year on October 31. It’s also referred to as All Hallow’s Eve, Hallowe’en, Summer’s End and Witches Night, among others. This spooky holiday draws in traditions from pagan harvest festivals and festivals that honor the dead. While some of the originations surrounding the holiday are unknown and open to speculation, we do know that the holiday started in Ireland and is now celebrated in many countries.

Today’s Halloween traditions include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, visiting haunted houses, decorating jack-o-lanterns and watching horror flicks. Some people use this holiday to reconnect with their spiritual side and attend church service and take part in fasting or prayer. No matter how you choose to celebrate Halloween, one thing is for certain: This holiday is all about having fun and feeling like a kid once again.
